Methylisothiazolinone 10% Cosmetic Preservative is an active ingredient solution for the preservation of cosmetic,paints, binder dispersions, adhesives and other technical products. It contains an active substance permitted for use in food contact coatings and adhesives provided that the customary dosage rates are not exceeded. It's a straight aqueous solution of the active ingredient Methylisothiazolone, and does not contribute to VOC and AOX.

Compatibility
Methylisothiazolinone Preservative shows a very good compatibility even after undiluted addition. A series of experiments have shown that viscosity and color of the finished products preserved with Mit 10% remain unchanged.

Application and Activity
Methylisothiazolinone combines environmental acceptability with effective preservation. It can be used in a wide range of products such as paints, adhesives, latex emulsions, tackifiers, mineral slurries, pigment dispersions and other technical, water-based products.
It is a straight solution of the active ingredient in water and does not contain any additives or salt. It is therefore suited to preserve products which are free of VOC(volatile organic compounds) and AOX (adsorbable, halogenated organic substances). In most cases it shows a very good compatibility and will not cause coagulation even if added undiluted.
MIT 10 biocide has a broad spectrum of activity against all commonly occurring micro-organisms in the application field. It must be understood that MIT-10 cannot provide a protection in the vapor phase due to absence of formaldehyde and other volatile microbicides.
Dosage
The optimum dosage rate depends upon the degree of contamination and the susceptibility of the product to be preserved. Occasionally, the degree of contamination exhibits seasonal fluctuation, so that a periodical determination of germ counts can assist in choosing the optimum dosage rate. The typical use concentration ranges between 0.05 – 0.15%. In the case of special application, please consult either our Technical or our Biological Laboratories for assistance.
